This is the weekend before I leave for Alaska, so the family went down to Tallahassee to spend a much needed, restful weekend with Rusty, Laura, Langley and Ryan. I also wanted a chance to hear how Ryan's European People to People trip was. You can find pictures from his trip on his Facebook page, if you're interested.
We all went to St. George Island for the day on Saturday and laid in the sun; splashed in the surf; drank margaritas and bushwackers and all got sunburned. It was a PERFECT day! And just the type of family time I needed before taking on my new assignment.
We celebrated Stone's 49th birthday with a surf n' turf dinner and topped it off with birthday cake. The girls and I got him extra-special cards: Katie's focused on memories of riding around in the Woody listening to 'If I had a million dollars', Kelly's taught him how to say 'Where the Hell Am I' in Italian in preparation for their graduation trip, and mine highlighted a couple on a Vespa; and we all pitched in on a $50 Amazon gift card for his Kindle Fire.
I'm off to Houston for one last week, then taking Katie back to UGA next Saturday and off to Alaska on Sunday.
